American Carriers allowed into Canada March 2010

by rick
(Ottawa Ontario Canada)

Can American Wireless Carriers expand into Canada in 2010 ?

Canada seems poised to allow American wireless carriers in: Canada has allowed an Egyptian based wireless carrier to set up shop in Canada as of Jan 2010.

{ news article from the Canadian Broadcasting News(CBC) }
http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2010/03/03/throne-speech-technology.html

Previously, the Canadian market has been closed to all but 3 Canadian wireless carriers(Bell, Rogers & Telus). Canada recently(Jan. 2010) allowed Wind Mobile(a Globealive subsidiary, of Egypt) to start operations and now they are encouraging other international telecoms to enter the Canadian market.

I'd like to know because I have a 200' tower available on a 330' hill(above sea level) on my farm in Ottawa, Ontario.

Airwave Management - Canadian Services NEW
by: Airwave Management LLC

Just an update to this older post. We are now starting to provide Canadian landlords with lease consulting services in Canada on more than just Bell, Rogers & Telus cell site leases. SBA communications has been very active in Ontario, Quebec and other places and we can certainly help landlords with those and other cell site leases.

American Cellular Carriers - Canadian Cell Site Development NEW
by: Steve

Great question Rick. Our company does not do business in Canada. I would suggest that you contact all of the cellular carriers directly and give them your tower's address, coordinates, height, and AMSL (elevation).

You may also want to contact a tower management company doing business in Canada like SBA Communications. Here is their contact information:

SBA Canada's Regional Office
468 Saint-Jean, Bureau 400
Montréal, Québec
H2Y 2S1 CANADA
Tél:(514) 656-5233

Also, if you'd like I can email the contact information of a friend of mine who is an account manager for them in the Northeastern United States. (steve /AT/ airwavesites.com)
