Justin, thanks for posting your question on our forum. We have property owners approach us on a regular basis who are approached by cell tower developers or tower companies who are looking to erect a tower on their land.

There are a few large established tower companies and there are countless smaller tower builders who are "in the know" with construction managers who work for the major wireless carriers.

Usually, information leaks out to them regarding where the cellular carrier needs to build a cell site, and they go out and try to engage the landowner to build a cell phone tower. They either keep the site and collect between 50-70% of the revenue over a long period of time, or they turn around and sell the tower to the larger cell tower companies like Crown, SBA or American Tower.
