cell tower lease with American Tower

I am so confused! I hope you can help. My grandma recently passed away, and my mom, leaving me with estate planning issues. There's a cell tower on our property, owned by Verizon and managed by American Tower. My grandma agreed for this tower to be built by Southwestern Bell around 1996, when she was in her late 70s. We do not have a copy of any lease agreement.

Searching through many years of records, there have been no annual or monthly payments of any kind from this lease.

My grandma mentioned something about a 99 year lease, I don't know where to go from here.

Thanks,
Robin Taylor

The 99 years could be they gave your grandmother a cash payment & bought out the tower rights for 99 years. Not uncommon we were offered the same but turned it down.

Really strange no one in her family knows anything about the lease. The other comment about checking with the tower company should answer a lot of questions.

Grandmother's American Tower lease

Sorry for your loss.

You should contact American Tower's landlord relations group and inform them of the situation and request. They will require you to provide documentation so that they know that they are authorized to speak with you.
