Previous owner rights

We bought a bought a piece of property and were informed there was a cell tower easement on it. The cell tower currently on the property is not in use but Verizon is paying the previous owner because the cell tower does sit on The property . Verizon came to us as the new owners requesting to put up a new cell tower where the previous one existed. There is no easement filed with the county or other encumbrances on the land other than what was in the real estate purchase contract. the new cell tower will take up a larger space than the previous cell tower. the previous owner claims the new cell tower contract and proceeds belongs to them. what rights do the previous owners have on the new cell tower if no easement can be found that was filed with the county ?
